Hammond takes on non-executive role at Ardagh

The former Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond has joined the board of Ardagh as a non-executive director.

Media reports claim that his role could earn Hammond around £125,000 a year. Ardagh, which manufactures glass and metal packaging, said that he would work on its audit committee, overseeing financial reporting.

As Chancellor, Hammond stepped up pressure on the industry outlining plans to tax producers of plastic packaging.

At this year’s UK Packaging Awards, Ardagh won CSR Initiative of the Year for its OnSide project with Leeds Rhinos.
